The Department of Russian and Slavic Studies at the University of Arizona invites applications for a one-year visiting lecturer in Russian and Slavic Studies (full time, with benefits). The successful candidate will teach General Education courses for a diverse undergraduate student population and will be able to teach Russian language courses.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teaching 3 courses per semester based on department needs (80% of workload).
  • Service for the department, including student outreach activities, such as event planning, coordination, advertising and participation. (20% of workload)
  • Holding office hours.
  • Preparing teaching materials independently and collaboratively.
  • Attending meetings and/or events as requested.
  • Actively recruiting majors and minors to the BA in Russian and Slavic Studies.
  • Contributing to departmental efforts to develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement and fostering diversity and inclusive excellence.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Russian and/or Slavic Studies or closely related field by August 1, 2024
  • Native or ACTFL superior proficiency in Russian and English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching Russian and Slavic Studies at the university level.
