About the RoleAs the Space Applications CFO, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the development and implementation of finance and business operations and operate as a key stakeholder in business growth and strategic planning for this defined business area. The Space Applications business is responsible for the development of satellites, solar array power generation, propulsion & environmental systems, and has a $1B backlog of new business within National Security. You will act as a strategic partner to business area leadership with specific focused responsibility for long-range financial planning, budget preparation, cost control and oversight, business resource planning and tracking, and ensuring financial program performance is achieved for the business unit/area portfolio. You will direct financial program portfolio status and overall organizational business management by supporting project/ program budgeting, program scheduling, indirect cost budgeting and tracking, and measuring/reporting financial progress to achieve organizational goals.

Must Haves:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field of study

  • Relevant experience may substitute for required education

  • Government contracting experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following disciplines: financial planning & analysis, pricing, or other quantitative or analytical role in business, program, or operations management

  • Extensive working knowledge and experience in all phases of budget preparation, cost control, and business resource planning and tracking

  • Strong business analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior business and government leaders and to provide leadership within the workplace

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express concepts in verbal and written forms with the ability to clearly communicate complex regulatory requirements and solutions

  • Proven leadership abilities inclusive of successful change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews

  • Proven experience and skills in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, and strategic thinking



Preferred:

  • Typically, 10-15 years of relevant experience; 12+ years demonstrated finance or business management related experience

  • Higher-level degree may be considered in lieu of relevant experience

  • Master's in Business Administration or related field of study

  • Advanced skills gathering data from multiple, often disparate, qualitative, and quantitative sources and synthesizing it into meaningful reports and presentations

  • Previous management experience: ability to recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence

  • Demonstrated passion for ideation and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose.

  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies

  • Possess a strategic mindset, linking technology to business

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.

Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

We also offer a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 8%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and more.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:$246,117.71 - $338,411.86
