Job Description
General Summary:

The position of EHS Engineer is responsible for guiding, developing, and implementing safety and environmental policies and programs. It will provide support to ensure a safe and healthful workplace while maintaining compliance with all safety, health and environmental regulations and policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Champion, maintain and communicate the company EHS policies and procedures to assure that they are current and appropriate. Examples include hazard communication, emergency preparedness and response, lockout/tag-out, safety training, hearing conservation, forklift safety, contractor safety, storm-water pollution prevention, spill prevention, hazardous waste handling, etc.
  • Remain current on industry and regulatory updates to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements.
  • Help develop targets and ensure corrective actions and improvement efforts are in place.
  • Maintain OSHA log
  • Work with plant safety committees to educate, and insure compliance to corporate safety policies and practices.
  • Define safety committee meeting agendas.
  • Conduct workplace inspections with safety team members to promote a safe work environment.
  • Evaluate and determine needs for industrial hygiene, fire protection and safety products.
  • Review for approval, all new safety data sheets.
  • Maintain record keeping requirements of EPA, OSHA, and other pertinent compliance matters.
  • Consult with EHS Manager and top management on strategic direction of safety programs
  • Assist HR with safety training, and workers compensation
  • Manage and assist in regulatory compliance visits and agency requests (OSHA, EPA, DNR)
  • Lead continuous improvement initiative regarding EHS policies and programs
  • Ensure ISO14001 compliance at the site level. This will included conducting audits and training.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors of Science in Safety, Environmental, or Industrial Engineering desired or equivalent experience.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must have basic knowledge of blow molding and injection processes.
  • OSHA 10 & 30 training a plus.
  • ISO 14001 internal auditor training a plus
  • Five or more years related work experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Multi-plant experience preferred.
