Job Overview

The Senior Product Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the go-to-market strategy for one of Marvin's core product lines, including development of comprehensive marketing strategies and campaigns in support of both new product launches and ongoing business. This position will effectively reach our target audiences and customer segments enabling Marvin to deliver a best-in-class premium brand experience and product at every touchpoint. This position will ensure go-to-market strategies for products and product launches are consistently implemented across customer segments at national, regional and local levels.

In close partnership with product management, sales and the broader marketing team, this position will develop impactful product positioning and messaging that resonates with the target audiences and launch plans that drive growth for the business.

To be successful in this position a passion for all things product and marketing, balanced with strong cross-functional leadership skills to drive team focus on delivering the annual plan and bringing products to market from concept to execution are needed. The ideal candidate will be experienced in driving the insights as a foundation of strategy development, have had volume and/or P&L accountability and has demonstrated experience managing both core portfolio brands and product launches.

Highlights of your role

Planning and Strategy (40%-time allocation)

    Market Strategy + Planning: partner with product management, sales and the broader marketing team to define the market opportunity through market analysis and segmentation to develop multi-channel go-to-market strategies for assigned product lines, with a particular eye toward new product launches. Connect go-to-market initiatives to broader organizational and functional marketing strategies and ensure tools and materials are created to support the priorities and enable success. Collaborate with partners to create complete business plan for assign product lines.
  • Positioning and Messaging: develop product line value propositions and guide message development that resonates with targeted buyers and communicates the differentiated value of Marvin product collections. Ability to recognize and prioritize customer needs and wants to lead development of compelling messaging.
  • Customer Personas: lead cross-functional team to become intimately familiar with Marvin's customer segments and their needs. Leverage primary and secondary market research to help the organization understand target personas and their purchase decision drivers. Partner with market research and product management to ensure product offerings meet audience needs.
  • Market and Competitive Intelligence: gather and analyze market and competitive information to create a point of view to support the current product portfolio, new product launches and to better position the business for growth.
  • Sales Enablement: lead development of value-based content and learning and development resources to educate the sales team and dealers on impactful messaging around new product launches as well as key differentiators with existing product collections.
  • Go-to-Market Excellence: champion internal go-to-market processes across the enterprise and develop multi-channel GTM execution plans that enable productive and efficient implementation including defined deliverables, appropriate budget and timing aligned with scope, identified appropriate stakeholders and approval process.
  • Strategic Planning: Support the Director, Product and Segment Marketing in the annual planning process by providing input to and supporting development of new product launch plans and annual product marketing strategies to effectively and efficiently bring products to market.

Management + Execution (40%-time allocation)

  • Partner with product managers to ensure product positioning, messaging and go-to-market strategies are in alignment with product portfolio growth goals and objectives.
  • Act as brand champion and advocate for Marvin's product collections and offering (value proposition, positioning, key messaging, personas, etc.) and ensure all GTM plans and initiatives align with the overall product strategies.
  • Lead execution of GTM plans for product launches, fostering collaboration and partnership through-out the process with product management, sales, the broader marketing organization and external agency partners when applicable.
  • Manage product launch and annual marketing budget and adhere to the budget tracking process.
  • Champion change management and incorporate methodologies as GTM/project teams experience various degrees of change. Ensure team is following defined GTM processes and frameworks for consistency and product launch success.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across teams to enable effective collaboration and efficient communication.
  • Identify, track and facilitate risk mitigation plans by anticipating potential roadblocks and risk before they occur, understand implications of risk and escalate conclusions to the appropriate levels.
  • Develop deep partnerships across the marketing and product management teams to drive collaboration.

Market Needs + Trends (10%-time allocation)

  • Utilize passion and knowledge for audience insights and building industry market trends to educate organization and create visibility for the ideas and opportunities that impact Marvin most and separate us from the competition.
  • Engage with sales and the channels to learn more about their needs, challenges and opportunities as it relates to GTM strategies and plans.
  • Stay up to date with customer behaviors, marketing innovations and competitive landscape to guide GTM strategies to best position Marvin and our products.
  • Keep current on the latest customer trends in and outside of our industry to help inform future needs and go-to-market opportunities.

Results + Continuous Improvement (10%-time allocation)

  • Conduct post- launch evaluation and use lessons learned to identify opportunities to enhance future go-to-market and project plans. Socialize these findings with project and leadership team when applicable.
  • Work closely with product management and channel to ensure GTM launch plans and timing are in alignment with product plans and can be effectively implemented across the channel.
  • Document learnings and best practices for future projects and product launches.

Also want to make sure you have
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or a related field is required. MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of related experience.
  • Building products and/or related building industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with and for senior marketing leaders to determine efficient resourcing required at scale to meet goals and objectives for the annual marketing plan.
  • Efficiently work with and leverage various technology platforms to maximize effectiveness; proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), CRM and marketing automation tools and Smartsheet.
