Manufacturing Press Tech-1st Shift

Job Description
Position Title: Manufacturing Press Tech
Wage: $21-$28/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 6am-2pm
QPS Employment Group is hiring a Manufacturing Press Technician for a company in Manitowoc, WI. The Manufacturing Press Technician operates and provide limited minor preventative maintenance of presses and other machinery, as well as monitors the quality of the product produced. This is an associate to hire opportunity.
Manufacturing Press Tech Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Check finished parts, empty parts buckets to hoppers, and shut-down operation whenever deficiencies in quality or press operation are noted
- Use precision measuring instruments (caliper, micrometer, plug gauges, bore micrometer, dial indicator height gauge) to ensure that parts meet customer specifications
- Maintain cleanliness in and around press and work area; involves cleaning scrap from inside and outside of press upon order completion
- Perform minor and limited preventive maintenance such as lubrication and auditing for loose parts and visible defects in equipment
- Load and unload raw material from stock reel or palletizer, following safety guidelines and using personal protection equipment such as gloves; safe and effective use of forklift, overhead hoist, coil hook, stock reel, coil straightener, and banding apparatus
- Read and interpret part prints and understand the correlation between the print and critical dimensions upon which SPC charts are based; includes an understanding of the use of SPC computer system and the basic principles of our SPC customer requirements
- Record production, material, and quality information on designated operating systems and in accordance with operating procedures
- Through the safe operation of forklift equipment, transport material (raw stock, scrap, and finished parts) when necessary
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor for additional experience and/or training or refinement skills or in preparation for advancement
- Attend and participate in team meetings and training programs
- Participate in Continual Improvement Process
- Follow Environmental Health & Safety procedures
Manufacturing Press Tech Requirements:
- Math, problem-solving, and reading competency
- A high degree of mechanical aptitude
- Previous work history in a manufacturing environment or experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude
- Prior experience operating a press is desired
