Technical Writer, Junior

Key Role:

Write and edit technical documentation, user manuals, and sales and training literature. Apply basic principles, theories, and concepts, including limited industry knowledge. Solve routine problems of limited scope and complexity and refer more complex issues to higher levels. Work under direct supervision. Serve as a writer as part of a team of strategic communications consultants for a DoD organization, providing effective and compelling writing to build a robust strategic communications program. Work as part of a team of strategic communicators to assist a DoD organization with developing, coordinating, and executing a strategic communications plan to familiarize internal and external parties with the capabilities of the organization. Work with senior government officials under tight deadlines to translate ideas and concepts into professional communications products, including talking points, PowerPoint presentations, articles, emails to the workforce, and other communications products, as needed. Coordinate and support meetings and briefings through the development of materials in advance and as follow-up to those events. Draft DoD Technical Orders for client delivery.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with strategic communications or technical writing

  • Experience with writing and editing materials, including technical articles and executive communication

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work as a self-starter in a fast-paced environment and multitask

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, or Journalism

Additional Qualifications:

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Possession of excellent editing and analytical skills

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $42,700.00 to $87,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
